Charity: Peace Hospice Care
Peace Hospice Care provides free specialist support for people and their families facing a life-limiting illness across South West Hertfordshire and the wider area. The charity provides: inpatient care in the hospice building in Watford; wellbeing support, clinics, rehabilitation, counselling and bereavement support in the Starlight Centre; a Hospice at Home service which takes hospice care to patients in their own homes; a volunteering befriending service called the Herts Neighbours Service for patients needing that extra bit of help at home. In 2016, the Care Quality Commission, an independent regulator of health and social services, awarded Peace Hospice Care an overall ‘Good’ rating with ‘Outstanding’ for being caring. Each year Peace Hospice Care needs to raise over £6 million in order to deliver its free services. For every £1 of income received, 32p comes from the NHS.
