Charity: Headway Essex
In Essex, every 58 minutes, somebody is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. As a charity, Headway Essex’s mission is to ensure that everyone in Essex living with an acquired brain injury can live a fulfilling life and that families and carers are better able to cope within their caring roles. Working throughout Essex, the charity offers much-needed community support and day centre services to hundreds of clients, family, friends and carers each year. Headway Essex relies on donations, gifts in wills, fundraising events and grants to continue to provide vital services to brain injury survivors and their families. In addition to The Headway Centres in Colchester and Benfleet, Headway Essex runs a brain injury helpline and five support groups across the county that meet monthly. These groups are invaluable, giving those who attend an opportunity to meet other people with a brain injury, to share information and to hear from experts in brain injury care and rehabilitation. To put the charity’s work into context, here’s what some of the clients and carers say: “I have always appreciated the care Headway Essex has given to my daughter over the years. I don't know how I would have coped without them” “Without the support of Headway Essex, I do not know how we would have coped with life” “Headway Essex has been a lifeline to me and given me hope of a better outcome for the future” Find Headway Essex on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/headway.essex Follow Headway Essex on Twitter at https://twitter.com/HeadwayEssex Donate to Headway Essex at https://www.headwayessex.org.uk/donate
