A1 Steam build, preserve, operate and exhibit for public benefit, for educational benefit and instructional purposes locomotives of historical or scientific importance, in particular a peppercorn class A1 express passenger locomotive. The charity offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities from engineering, customer service to train driving. Tuesdays at the Locomotive Works the Brew Crew gather for a brew and chat all about railways and heavy engineering, we have a number of ex- military and ex- railway workers along side steam enthusiasts. There is no barrier to joining. The Tornado Team supports young people with an interest in steam, engineering or STEM subjects.
