Charities
Brainstrust - the brain cancer people, was founded by the family of a brain tumour patient in 2006. Today the charity helps thousands of people every year navigate complex care with a focus on support and quality of life. The charity fills the chasm between clinical care and life after a diagnosis. The charity helps people understand and access the novel and emerging treatments landscape. brainstrust exists to ensure people are coached so that they are confident, connected, resourced and resilient on their journey following a brain tumour diagnosis. Every interaction is personalised and tailored, acknowledging that everyone’s disease trajectory, personal circumstances and goals are different.
Nine people are killed and dozens more injured everyday on UK roads. Brake works to prevent road deaths and injuries and to support people who have been bereaved and injured by road crashes. The BrakeCare helpline provides practical and emotional help for people bereaved and injured by road crashes - call (01484) 421611.
For many families BREAK is a lifeline. Every year we provide holidays and respite care for more than 1,000 children and adults with disabilities at our specialist centres. While our guests enjoy a seaside holiday, their parents and carers benefit from a much-needed rest. BREAK is special because we provide quality care and give our guests a great holiday where the focus is firmly on fun. The charity also provides a range of other care services - including children's homes, day care for adults and a residential family assessment unit.
With a legacy spanning over 55 years we provide care and rehabilitation to sick, injured or orphaned wildlife casualties with the aim to get them healthy for release back to the wild.
