Pipe Up for Pipe Organs is a UK-based heritage charity dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and promotion of Britain’s pipe organs. Founded in 2022, the organisation responds to a growing national crisis in which hundreds of historic instruments are being lost each year through neglect, church closures, and lack of funding. The charity works to rescue organs at risk, restore and maintain neglected instruments, and re-home them in suitable venues, including public spaces where they can be freely accessed and enjoyed. Alongside this, Pipe Up promotes awareness, education, and public engagement with organ music, helping to ensure that these complex and culturally significant instruments remain a living part of Britain’s musical heritage. Through practical intervention, advocacy, and community outreach, Pipe Up aims to shift perceptions of the pipe organ from a declining relic to a relevant, accessible instrument for contemporary audiences.
