Charities
MAARA is a charity which has been in existence for over 50 years and funds research into the cause and treatment of asthma and other allergies. We work in collaboration with the University of Leicester and other research centres to improve the understanding of these diseases. You can help by adopting MAARA as your chosen charity.
Midshires Search and Rescue (MSAR) is a Lowland Search and Rescue Organisation covering Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. MSAR is called out by the Police, other search teams and County Emergency Planning Officers to search for missing and vulnerable people, as well as to assist in civil emergency situations. Our search teams can make a difference to the family and friends of the missing person who may appreciate that a group of specialist volunteers have given their time to search for their loved one. The team can be mobilised and available 24/7, 365 days a year. As a registered charity, Midshires depends solely on grants and donations from the public to fund running costs such as training and the purchase of specialist search and rescue equipment.
We are a healthcare charity. We put individuals at the heart of all our planning, services and activities. Mildmay Mission Hospital was founded in the 1860s as a Christian charitable hospital, serving the poorest communities in the East End of London. For over 30 years, we have been at the forefront of specialist service and care delivery related to complex HIV-related conditions for patients across the UK. Mildmay remains the only UK hospital that provides specialist care for people suffering from HIV-related illnesses, and we maintain a pool of expertise and knowledge that is unsurpassed in Europe. Since 2020, we also provide care for people who are homeless and/or recovering from addiction, from across London and beyond. Mildmay has worked internationally since the 1990s and continues to support HIV and human rights-linked healthcare initiatives in Africa through its descendant NGOs, Mildmay Kenya and Mildmay Uganda.
