Charities
The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. For over thirty years MCS has been the voice for the sea, for all the fascinating creatures that live beneath the waves, for our breath-taking coastal environment, for all those who make a sustainable living from the sea and for everyone who simply enjoys visiting the beach and our glorious coastline.
Marriage Care is the largest faith-based relationship support organisation in England and Wales. We provide marriage preparation and professional relationship counselling through 53 centres across England and Wales, with almost 100 counselling locations. Our volunteers are mainly though not exclusively drawn from within the Catholic community. We were established in 1946 in response to the pressure on family relationships following the Second World War. The world has changed dramatically in the past 60 years, but the need for support, education and help in the relationship field remains as great as ever.
Masjid-E-Hussain empowers communities through faith, education, and charity—spreading hope, knowledge, and compassion for a brighter future.
Mayhew is an animal welfare charity working to improve life for dogs, cats and the communities we work in. We achieve this through welfare, clinic and rehoming work done from our base in London as well as overseas. We believe that the bond between humans and animals is worth protecting and we aim to raise public awareness and understanding of the power of animals, to change human behaviours and ultimately improve animal welfare.
The principal aim of ME Research UK is to commission and fund high-quality scientific (biomedical) investigation into the causes, consequences and treatment of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as ME/CFS). This is a debilitating illness which affects between 120,000 and 240,000 people in the UK, but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised.
