Knitted knockers of Northern Ireland provide free breast prosthetics to women across Northern Ireland that have had Breast Cancer Surgery. We also offer a post surgery kit which consists of a comfort cushion, drain bag and massaging soap bar which we provide to breast clinics across NI. In 2017 we started the group Breast Friends Clubhouse which is a creative and social space for breast cancer survivors to get peer support, build new skills and have alternative therapies.
L'Arche is a Federation of Communities where people with and without learning disabilities share life, with operations in around 40 countries worldwide. In the UK, there are 11 L'Arche Communities in towns or city neighbourhoods across England, Scotland and Wales. Our mission is to build a world where everyone belongs.
Our aim is; “To Rescue and re home”, “STRAY”, “INJURED”, “SICK” or “UNWANTED” Cats and Kittens. “All” of our volunteers are “unpaid”. All our cats are neutered or spayed, vaccinated when appropriate, tested for FeLV & FIV and microchipped before homing. We are a small and completely independent charity and rely “ENTIRELY” on funds we raise ourselves and there is no denying it is hard work, we have stalls at car boot sales in the summer months, in spring and autumn we run Flea Markets which we organize ourselves. We usually have about 25 cats/kittens in our care. Our philosophy is to provide high quality care for a few cats rather than so so care for too many cats.
We rescue animals of all types, some waiting destruction in Welsh Pounds, others handed in to us for whatever reason, good or bad. We provide medical care, food, shelter and love for them all and ultimately find them loving homes. If for any reason, things do not work out, we always take them back. We inoculate and worm all our animals and ensure they receive any medical treatment they may require. We also neuter as many of our animals as possible, new owners of any un-neutered animals are bound by agreement to carry out this vital task at the earliest opportunity. Every eligible dog or cat leaves our Rescue Centre with 4 weeks free insurance from a leading company, new owners are then given the opportunity to extend such cover by subscribing to the scheme. Our staff are always available to advise on training or behavioural issues, and are there to assist if needed. We operate a non-destruction policy.
