Charities
Last Chance Animal Rescue is a charity providing care and shelter for rescue dogs and cats until they find their forever homes. Many of our dogs and cats come to us in desperate need having been found as a stray, their owners may have passed away, or are unable to continue to look after them financially or take them to new accommodation, some of our dogs may have been rescued from the Welsh pound, these dogs will have found their way in to the pound, likely been used for breeding and cast aside when no longer a useful commodity, these dogs will be allocated a certain budget for their care by the local Welsh council, but once this money has been exhausted the dogs will likely be put down, we regularly travel to Wales, twice monthly, to save these dogs, many are just pups themselves, for these dogs especially, we are literally their Last Chance. We lovingly look after the animals in our centres, feed them and keep them comfy, offer them lots of company/walks and cuddles, plus a good few treats too! We health check all and provide any veterinary care needed, as well as vaccinating, administering flea and worming treatments and neutering, before the animals go to their new homes. The charity began in Edenbridge and has been helping animals since 1986, our New Romney centre was opened in 2015, we operate on a non destruct policy, meaning a lifeline for many of our residents, even if they are poorly, or old, or go home and need to come back again, for whatever reason, they are welcome at Last Chance for as long as they need us. We have many volunteer roles available, please contact us if you have any spare time! Edenbridge - (01732) 865530 Rescue Address: Hartfield Road, Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 5NH New Romney - 01797 366620 Rescue Address: Ashford Road, New Romney, TN28 8TH We love to hear from any would-be volunteers; cat cuddlers and/or dog walkers (over 18), any handy people for odd jobs around the rescues, volunteer drivers, home checkers (some areas we desperately need help to vet homes for our hopeful new adoptive families), gardening, general cleaning, helping with events, there is such a diverse range of things to do, an hour here and there, it doesn't have to be on a regular basis, but once you join our friendly team of volunteers you'll quickly realise how rewarding giving an hour of your time is! We are always grateful for donations of clean blankets, throws, towels, tea towels, flannels, used but clean duvets (not feather please - the dogs have a whale of a time!!). Duvets really help our sight hounds as extra comfy bedding and are also great for our animals recovering from surgery, donations of dog and cat food, we usually run very low on wet dog food (especially grain free for those dogs with sensitive tummies) and cat litter, we appreciate donated quality items for our charity shop. If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, or may need our help in rehoming your animal please visit our website and make contact with us. If you'd like to help us in any way by donating, volunteering or would like to find out more, please pop in or give us a call , we'd be happy to chat further.
Providing families with information, liaison, advice and support throughout a missing person's case overseas remains a core part of our operations. Every year we reunite many families with the loved one they feared they may never see again. The skills, knowledge and contacts we have gained in years of providing this support, along with a mutually respected relationship with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, have enabled us to expand our remit, and we are now able to help victims of any type of serious crime. We have been providing a revolutionary level of care to families of British murder or manslaughter victims since 2008 and we can offer advice, logistical support, repatriation assistance, problem solving, fundraising support and much more to victims of any serious crime overseas.
Leicester Animal Aid is a rescue and rehoming centre for cats and dogs. Every year, we care for more than 400 dogs and cats who are lost, abandoned, neglected, unwanted or relinquished because their owners can no longer look after them.
